IDW Publishing and VIZ Media have announced the release of a crossover comic series featuring Naruto and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The series will consist of four issues, with the first issue scheduled for release on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. In addition, the creative team and concept art for the comic have also been revealed.
In 1984, Mirage Studios’ imprint released the first issue of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a comic book created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. Over time, the franchise expanded into various forms of media, including toys, animated shows, and video games. Due to its immense popularity, the comic is now teaming up with one of the largest manga franchises, Naruto.
Naruto X Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover comic set to be released in four issues
IGN reported on Monday, July 23, 2024 that a collaboration between IDW Publishing and VIZ Media is in the works for a crossover comic book featuring Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Naruto. The series will consist of four issues, with the first one scheduled for release on Wednesday, November 13, 2024.
Caleb Goellner, known for his work on Sonic the Hedgehog, has been chosen to write the script for the comic. Additionally, Hendry Prasetya, who has experience working on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, will be the artist for the comic. He has already collaborated with Jorges Jiménez to create the cover art for issue #1, which is scheduled to be published in November 2024.
Raúl Angulo and Ed Dukeshire will also be joining the team to handle the coloring and lettering of the comic, respectively.
Additionally, alongside the staff members list, IDW Publishing and VIZ Media have also revealed the cover art and concept designs for Raphael, Michelangelo, April O’Neil, and Splinter.
The writer of the crossover comic, Caleb Goellner, expressed both excitement and gratitude for the chance to collaborate with the most talented individuals in the worlds of comics and manga. He viewed it as a privilege to introduce the ninja characters in an epic saga fueled by mutagen and chakra, bringing joy to fans worldwide.
What Can We Expect from the Naruto X Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Crossover Comic?
The crossover comic will feature a meeting between the teenage reporter from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the Fifth Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village, which will pique the interest of Team 7.
Despite the Shinobi being the primary interested party in the upcoming meeting, they are not the only ones with a vested interest. The Foot Clan, known adversaries of the TMNT, also have a keen interest in April’s visit to Konoha. They believe that April possesses valuable information on mutation research being conducted by the scientist Baxter Stockman. As a result, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles must work together with Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi to rescue April from being caught in the middle of this dangerous situation.
