Naruto’s Biggest Plot Twist is Also the Series’ Biggest Misconception, and Fans are Wrong About It

Despite its popularity, the Naruto series had several unresolved elements that were not thoroughly explored. This led to some plot inconsistencies, which became apparent to fans upon revisiting older episodes.

Despite the significant plot twist that was caused by the introduction of Kaguya Otsutsuki and the Otustsuki clan, fans were not pleased with how they were introduced. Many felt that their introduction was rushed and disjointed, leading to a disconnect with the story.

Nevertheless, this belief is misguided as some fans have identified certain aspects from the earlier sections of the manga that may contradict this notion.

Potential Foreshadowing of the Otsutsukis in Naruto Manga Events

Although Kishimoto has acknowledged his involvement in creating the character of Kaguya, it is possible that he initially had a different character in mind while developing the series. The Gedo Statue serves as a significant hint or link to Kaguya and the Otsutsuki clan.

After Hagoromo Otsutsuki removed the chakra from the Ten-Tailed Beast, he divided it into nine separate Tailed Beasts. He then sealed the Gedo Statue within the moon.

The resemblance of this Gedo statue to the flower upon which Kaguya-Hime sat in the folklore known as “The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter”is striking. Additionally, Kishimoto may have been hinting at the presence of the Otsutsuki clan through the character of Black Zetsu. Hashirama Senju, after his legendary battle with Madara, was able to detect the presence of another entity.

The conclusion of the battle resulted in Madara’s demise and it was eventually revealed that the Black Zetsu was not a physical embodiment of his will. This fact hinted at the presence of a superior entity or a group of such beings. Additionally, the existence of the Kaguya Clan, known for their distinct appearance of short eyebrows and zig-zag hair patterns, further implies the foreshadowing of Kaguya and the Otsutsuki lineage in the earlier stages of the series.

Fans presented this as evidence that the Otsutsuki Clan’s creation was not hastily done. While some may debate the presence of foreshadowing, it is undeniable that Masashi Kishimoto expertly integrated the Otsutsuki Clan into existing elements of the Naruto series, disproving the notion of disjointedness that fans had previously believed. The perception of whether it was rushed or not is ultimately a subjective matter for each individual viewer.

Despite this, it cannot be ignored that the creator of Naruto successfully incorporated the Otsutsuki Clan into key plot points, as mentioned previously. This is the reason why we feel that the revelation of Kaguya and the Otsutsuki Clan’s role in the story, which was seen as jarring, was actually well-integrated.

Despite being a new character, Kishimoto was able to tie him to various elements previously introduced in the story through the Gedo Statue, Black Zetsu, and the Kaguya Clan.
