NBA 2K to remove content featuring Dr Disrespect after Twitch ban controversy

Recently, a former employee of Twitch took to Twitter to claim that popular streamer Dr Disrespect had been permanently banned from the platform for sending inappropriate messages to a minor. Following this, Dr Disrespect acknowledged and confirmed the messages, leading to various organizations distancing themselves from him.

Midnight Society, the gaming studio of Dr Disrespect, has cut ties with him. Additionally, the San Francisco 49ers have announced that they will no longer be working with Doc.

2K has recently announced their decision to end their partnership with Dr Disrespect, resulting in his name being removed from NBA 2K24 in the upcoming weeks.

The developer of 2K24 plans to implement this after the release of the Season 9 patch, which comes just a few days after the launch of the Season 8 update on June 28, 2024.

Furthermore, future games released by 2K will not include any content related to Dr Disrespect.

The revelation comes after Doc’s confirmation on X that he had engaged in inappropriate interactions with a minor, although he denied having any malicious intentions behind the messages.

“Did I exchange Twitch whisper messages with a minor in 2017? Yes. Were my intentions genuine? Absolutely not. These were simply casual conversations that occasionally veered into inappropriate territory, but nothing beyond that. No laws were broken, no images were exchanged, and no crimes were committed. I never even met the person in question,”stated Disrespect on X’s stream on June 25, 2024.

The streamer is presently taking a break, but has assured fans of a future return to creating content.
