NCT’s Taeyong, the grandson of a Korean War veteran, paid a moving tribute to Korea’s fallen heroes during his recent visit to the National Cemetery. Through his solemn prayers and emotional narration, he left a lasting impact and honored the memory of those who sacrificed their lives.
On Memorial Day, the Republic of Korea Navy released a moving video called “I will not forget and always remember,”with Taeyong serving as the narrator.
As a public relations officer for the Naval Headquarters Military Music Decoration Battalion, Taeyong’s visit to the National Cemetery was deemed ‘heartbreaking’ by numerous individuals.
During the video, Taeyong was shown visiting the grave of his grandfather, a Korean War hero. Along with his sister’s name, which was also inscribed on the tombstone, it served as a touching reminder of his family’s history of dedication and bravery.
His words struck a chord, conveying heartfelt appreciation for the sacrifices made by the nation’s heroes: “Your selflessness and commitment have paved the way for a promising future.”
After witnessing Taeyong’s connection to Korea’s military history, netizens were deeply touched and responded with heartfelt comments such as “I hope blessings continue to come to your family”and “Your grandparents would be filled with pride.”
Earlier this year, Taeyong’s enlistment as an active-duty member of the Navy was a momentous occasion, as he became the first NCT member to begin his military service.
According to SM Entertainment’s confirmation on March 18, 2024, NCT’s Taeyong will be enlisting as an active-duty soldier on April 15, 2024, to fulfill his mandatory military duties, as reported in recent news.
As per South Korean law, Taeyong had previously expressed concerns about NCT’s touring schedule due to the prohibition of travel six months before military service. In order to prioritize his safety, his enlistment will be conducted privately without any official events.
Nevertheless, supporters can continue to appreciate his recent achievements, including the release of his second mini-album “TAP,”which has been praised for its distinctive approach.
Taeyong’s enlistment is significant as it is the first among NCT members, setting a precedent for the group. Although he is not the oldest member at 28 years old, Taeil holds that title at 29. Additionally, Taeyong’s solo career has been thriving, with his song “TAP”reaching the number one spot on iTunes charts in 33 regions.
