BTS’s Comeback Show on Netflix: Fans Disappointed by Subtitle Timing
On March 21 at 8 PM KST, BTS celebrated the release of their fifth full-length album, ARIRANG, with a globally streamed comeback show on Netflix. While the performance itself was well-received, viewers expressed discontent over a significant issue with the subtitle synchronization.
Subtitle Delays Frustrate Viewers
Fans tuning into the show reported that the subtitles were delayed by 1 to 2 seconds, often appearing after the respective lyrics had already been sung. This timing issue disrupted the flow of the performance for many watchers at home.

Many fans pointed out that since the setlist and lyrics were pre-arranged, the subtitle delays were particularly baffling. One viewer commented, “The subtitles come out after the part is already finished, ” highlighting the challenge of maintaining immersion during the performance.

Due to the frustrating subtitle experience, some fans opted to turn off the subtitles altogether to fully enjoy the show without distraction.
A Momentous Return for BTS
This comeback marked BTS’s first full-group performance in over three years, following their earlier performance titled “Yet to Come in Busan” in October 2022. Despite the technical difficulties evident during the broadcast, the new album ARIRANG achieved remarkable commercial success, selling nearly 4 million copies on its first day. This reflects the incredible global reach and influence that BTS continues to maintain.

In conclusion, while BTS’s ARIRANG performance left a lasting impression through the music itself, the subtitle delay issues showcased the complexities of live international broadcasts. Nevertheless, the overwhelming sales on the album’s release affirm the group’s unwavering popularity and the dedication of their fan base worldwide.
