Nev Schulman was taken aback when he discovered that Mohammed was being deceived by a woman named Ashley, who was using photos of popular TikTok celebrity Charli D’Amelio to catfish him on the internet.
Nev Schulman and Kamie Crawford were assigned the mission of assisting Mohamed in revealing the true identity of his catfish, Ashley, on Episode 2 of Season 9 of Catfish.
Nev and Kamie were taken aback when they requested to view photos and discovered that she was using pictures of popular TikTok influencer Charli D’Amelio and identifying herself as Ashley.
“Do you not recognize this person?”Nev inquired to Mohammed during the episode. “I suppose if you’re not active on social media, you may not be familiar with them.”
Nev informed Mohammed that Charli has a significant following on TikTok and is well-known on the platform. Mohammed confessed that he has never used the app before.
He would remain unaware that the pictures of Ashley were actually of Charli if he knew she was pretending to be a famous person.
Nev was taken aback by Ashley’s use of photos of a celebrity, and he was even more astonished to learn that Mohammed was unaware of Charli’s fame and believed her deception.
The Catfish host referred to it as the “fastest investigation” in the history of the show. Since Mohammed never shared the photos of Ashley with anyone else, he was unable to discover her false identity before the investigation.
Following Nev and Kamie’s revelation of the truth to Mohammed, they proceeded to delve into other aspects of Ashley’s identity in order to further their investigation and uncover her true identity.
