The parents were particularly concerned about the similarities between ILLIT and NewJeans, and they also made accusations against Bang Si-hyuk for mistreating the members.
In their email, the parents expressed confusion over Chairman Bang Si Hyuk’s behavior towards NewJeans in the company. They noted that despite meeting him multiple times, he seems to ignore their greetings and pretend not to know the members. Initially, the parents thought that he simply didn’t recognize the members, but after confirming it many times, they realized that this behavior occurs frequently on different days. They also mentioned that there are times when only the two parties meet, making it difficult for Mr. Bang to not recognize NewJeans.
Despite their frustrations, NewJeans’ parents emphasized the importance of basic courtesy and expressed their disappointment in their child’s failure to greet others. They had heard stories of their child ignoring others or intentionally avoiding them, causing them to feel embarrassed and shocked. As parents, they were at a loss for words and worried about the impact of these actions on their child and their peers, who were all in middle school.
In response to the email, a high-ranking official at HYBE expressed skepticism, stating, “Our first priority is to verify if the email accurately represents the views of NewJeans’ parents. We require substantial proof to do so.”
In response to the accusation that Bang Shi Hyuk neglected NewJeans, an official stated, “There is no need to address unfounded allegations from ADOR.”
