In Overwatch 2, players can earn a new ranked cosmetic known as Competitive Drive, but it must be maintained through dedicated effort in order to remain in their account.
In recent seasons, the developers of Overwatch 2 have implemented significant changes to the Competitive system. These updates have included a complete overhaul in Season 9 and the introduction of Jade weapons, which serve as a complementary option to the highly coveted Golden guns.
As Season 12 approaches, the developers have once again decided to update the ranked system. In preparation for the upcoming rank reset, they have also introduced a new event called Competitive Drive.
Competitive Signatures will be a new cosmetic introduced to the event.
During the final weekend of Season 12, the developers will implement Competitive Drives, providing players with the opportunity to earn additional rewards through ranked gameplay.
As you participate in ranked role queue, you will have the opportunity to earn a Drive Score. This score will advance you to the next checkpoint, and each checkpoint will come with a reward. Essentially, it can be compared to a Battle Pass designed specifically for competitive play.
The developers did not specify what the rewards will be. However, it appears that players will have the opportunity to earn Competitive Points, which can then be used to buy Jade and Golden weapon skins.
Furthermore, a brand new cosmetic known as Competitive Signatures will be included in the event. This cosmetic will display your BattleTag in a distinct visual design, which will vary depending on your progress in the Competitive Drive.
The Competitive Signatures will appear anywhere your BattleTag appears
Upon the commencement of the event, players will have the opportunity to collect Signatures based on their progress in the Competitive Drive.
The Signatures will appear alongside your BattleTag in various locations, including the main menu, during gameplay, and in Play of the Games. Each Signature earned in the Competitive Drive will remain visible until a new one is acquired.
Currently, it remains unclear how frequently the developers plan to hold these events. Additionally, the specific start date for Competitive Drive has not been announced yet, but we do know that it will take place during one weekend towards the end of Season 12.
