One exciting highlight of Pokémon Go’s Legendary Heroes event is the introduction of a previously unattainable Shadow Pokémon.
The event, running from September 26 to October 1, allows Koffing to evolve into Galarian Weezing, which isn’t typically an option. Normally, the Poison Gas Pokémon evolves into the standard Kantonian Weezing.
This change means players who have Shadow Koffing can now evolve it into Shadow Galarian Weezing, a Pokémon that has never appeared in Shadow Raids until now.
One player expressed their enthusiasm on Reddit, sharing a screenshot of their Shiny Shadow Galarian Weezing and encouraging others to evolve their Shadow Koffing.

If you possess Shadow Koffing, just spend 50 Koffing Candy to evolve it into Shadow Galarian Weezing. During this event, Koffing will not evolve into the traditional Kantonian Weezing.
If you don’t have one yet, you’re in luck! Koffing has returned to 1-Star Shadow Raids, providing an opportunity to Shiny hunt for this Pokémon.
As a Poison/Fairy-type, Galarian Weezing offers more advantages compared to its pure Poison-type evolution. It has access to valuable STAB Fairy attacks and its dual typing mitigates the usual Poison vulnerability.
While it introduces Steel to Kantonian Weezing’s weaknesses to Ground and Psychic types, it compensates with a near immunity to Dragon-type moves.
Koffing and Weezing aren’t the only Pokémon with regional variants to experience such changes. A 2022 event allowed players to evolve Exeggcute into Alolan Exeggutor, enabling those with a Shadow Exeggcute to obtain the Coconut Pokémon in its Grass/Dragon form.
However, considering how sparse these events are, Shadow Galarian Weezing is likely to become one of the rarest Shadow Pokémon in the game, unless Niantic includes it in future Shadow Raids.
With the Legendary Heroes event ending on October 1, players have less than a week to evolve their Shadow Koffing.
