Reliable insider TheGhostOfHope has hinted that a new Resurgence map will debut alongside the Season 1 update for Warzone, coinciding with the integration of Black Ops 7 later this year. This anticipated map is said to be a larger rendition of Liberty Falls, a fictional town inspired by West Virginia, which first appeared as a Zombies map during the launch of Black Ops 6.
Liberty Falls has already been utilized in Black Ops 6, and it seems that additional maps like Shattered Veil and Reckoning could all be interconnected for the first time. This development could enhance gameplay by providing a more seamless experience across different game modes.
TheGhostOfHope originally mentioned on August 23 that the map is likely a Treyarch creation, later confirming on August 25 that it indeed pertains to an expanded version of Liberty Falls designed by Treyarch.
I wish I was making this up but from what I’ve been told the Resurgence Map that is planned for S1 of Black Ops 7 is an extended Liberty Falls… https://t.co/e7GraFS1HT pic.twitter.com/lgLt1yBW8U

Concerns Arise from Initial Playtest Feedback
Despite the excitement surrounding the new map, early feedback indicates potential issues. Playtesters who experienced the map previously shared that it did not resonate well with many players. Concerns are rising since Black Ops 6 introduced the Area 99 Resurgence map, which faced significant criticism shortly after its release.
Area 99 was ultimately removed from the game just five months post-launch, leaving Rebirth Island as the sole Resurgence map available. The community’s apprehension extends to the upcoming Liberty Falls map, with fears it may fall into the same category as its predecessor.
Further compounding these worries is the confirmation that the beloved Verdansk will continue to feature in Black Ops 7’s integration. Initially, rumors suggested that the Avalon map would make its debut alongside the new Call of Duty title; however, it has instead been earmarked for the single-player campaign’s Co-Op Endgame mode.
As for the timeline, the official narrative is that Season 1 will introduce Black Ops 6’s operators and weapons to Black Ops 7, while also integrating BO7 content into Warzone. Historically, every major Warzone update has come hand-in-hand with either a new Resurgence or Battle Royale map, giving players something to look forward to in late 2025.
For those eager for more insights into the future of Warzone, the upcoming Call of Duty Next event on September 30 promises to deliver. At this event, popular streamers and content creators will have the opportunity to experience the new title firsthand, followed closely by the commencement of the Black Ops 7 beta.
