New York Subliners Controversy with Amateur COD Team Before CDL Major

The New York Subliners, a franchise in the Call of Duty League, have been accused of abandoning their former Challengers team. The team’s contracts were terminated and their travel plans were cancelled just over a week before the Major 3 event.

During the month of February, the Subliners made the announcement that they would be adding a Challengers team to their roster in order to participate in the amateur bracket at CDL Majors. This made them one of the few CDL teams to show support and invest in the Tier 2 scene.

As the team prepared for the upcoming third Major of the 2024 season, they aimed to make a roster change in order to increase their chances of success at the Toronto event. Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse.

According to various sources, the Subliners had three players under contract and had already booked flights, hotel accommodations, and team passes for the event. However, their plans were abruptly altered when they attempted to add a fourth player to the roster.

With only ten days remaining until the event, the players were informed that they would no longer be receiving funding from NYSL and would have to cover the cost of the team pass, which had already been acquired for them by the organization. This was described as “nasty work”by former player Dylan ‘Mock’ Mock.

According to Nemensions, the players discovered the information “by chance”and it could have been disclosed even closer to the event if they had not stumbled upon it.

Mamba also voiced their frustration by claiming they were unfairly denied funding and describing the team’s mistreatment as “unbelievable.”

The New York Subliners’ primary squad will participate in the Major event in Toronto, aiming to improve their performance from online matches and demonstrate on LAN why they hold the title of world champions.

Despite currently ranking sixth in the current split standings, the Subliners are determined to solidify their position among the highly-regarded “top 4″teams – OpTic Texas, Atlanta FaZe, and Toronto Ultra – as they head into the final weekend of Major 3 qualifiers.
