OpTic Texas continues to make headlines with another significant roster change, parting ways with Amer ‘Pred’ Zulbeari following the CDL 2025 Major 2 tournament. This decision comes amid high expectations for the team as they transition into the Black Ops 6 season, particularly after their triumph at the COD Champs during the Modern Warfare 3 season.
Unfortunately for the Greenwall, the Black Ops 6 campaign has proven to be challenging. Early on, Pred was removed from the active roster due to personal matters, leading to Cuyler “Huke” Garland stepping in temporarily. However, Huke’s tenure was short-lived, as Pred rejoined the squad on February 6.
Despite Pred’s return, OpTic struggled to gain momentum, stumbling with a dismal 0-15 map count leading into the final week of online qualifiers. This lack of improvement prompted significant changes ahead of Major 2.
Rostering Changes Before Major 2
As they prepared to host Major 2, OpTic Texas also made the tough decision to release multi-time world champion Kenny ‘Kenny’ Williams while bringing in Cesar ‘Skyz’ Bueno. Despite these adjustments, the team’s return to LAN competition remained rocky, highlighted by a 3-0 victory over Minnesota Rokkr followed by a swift defeat at the hands of Toronto Ultra.
In the aftermath of Major 2, OpTic Texas opted to reintroduce Huke into the active lineup while once again bidding farewell to Pred. The team expressed their gratitude for Pred’s contributions, stating, “A World Champion with passion and energy for the game that is truly special. Always a part of our legacy. Thank you Pred, ” in a post made on X.

While Huke’s experience may help stabilize the roster, it’s worth noting that he was not the initial target. Reports indicate that OpTic Texas had shown interest in acquiring José ‘ReeaL’ Manuel Fernández from the Miami Heretics, but negotiations did not come to fruition.
The restructured team will have a week to iron out any issues before facing off against Rokkr on April 4. Additionally, they will take on Cloud9 New York during the opening week of Major 3 qualifiers, setting the stage for a demanding schedule ahead.
