In a contrasting storyline, the ongoing conflict involving NewJeans and its label HYBE has escalated since November of the previous year. The discord originated from internal disputes regarding management as the former ADOR CEO, Min Hee-jin, sought independence for the group, causing tensions with HYBE headquarters. In response, HYBE initiated an audit alleging that Min attempted to sever ties with ADOR. Min strongly opposed this, clarifying her intentions were to “protect NewJeans, ” which intensified the discord, ultimately leading the group members to announce their contract termination with ADOR.

On November 28, 2024, the members of NewJeans convened an urgent press conference to declare, “We are terminating our exclusive contracts with ADOR.” They asserted their belief that “HYBE and ADOR are at fault, and we have no reason to pay any penalties.” ADOR quickly countered these statements, launching a lawsuit to reaffirm the legitimacy of the contracts, thus igniting a legal battle.
Currently, while NewJeans members engage in solo endeavors, they are also exploring viable options for group activities. Nevertheless, the ongoing legal issues with HYBE cast uncertainty over their future, particularly concerning music distribution and performance scheduling. This state of affairs has left fans divided regarding the future trajectory of NewJeans amidst rising tensions between the agency and the group.

Adding fuel to the fire, on February 19, NewJeans’ parents voiced concerns on social media, alleging that HYBE chairman Bang Si-hyuk personally contacted U. S.officials to cancel the group’s scheduled performance at ComplexCon. They questioned, “Why is HYBE’s chairman personally interfering in a dispute between ADOR and NewJeans?”
In response, ADOR categorically denied these assertions, insisting, “ADOR never pressured anyone to cancel NewJeans’ Hong Kong performance. We also confirm that Chairman Bang Si-hyuk has never made any calls regarding NewJeans’ Hong Kong performance.”
