Public Sentiment Shift Regarding NJZ (NewJeans): A Comprehensive Overview
A recent discussion on a Korean forum has ignited a passionate debate surrounding the evolving public perception of NJZ (NewJeans). Participants are expressing bewilderment at what appears to be a drastic change from admiration to criticism.
The original post on Pann, titled “Why is public opinion on New Jeans suddenly so bad?”, highlighted a noticeable decline in support, stating that, “In the past, the situation wasn’t this bad, but when I check the comment sections on YouTube news coverage, people are all criticizing NewJeans. Wasn’t the general public more favorable towards them? Nevertheless, it seems that people on Twitter are generally more positive.”

In the ensuing comments, numerous netizens countered the notion of ongoing popular support, asserting that NewJeans is experiencing a clear erosion of their fanbase.
One comment that gained significant traction remarked, “It’s been like this since the end of last year, and today it finally came to an end. They’re just manipulating top comments on forums, and even on TheQoo, which had always sided with them unconditionally, they’re now cutting ties with NewJeans and attacking them. There’s no way to sway public opinion anymore; if anything, the forums are only manipulated with fake top comments. But if you actually go around and check the upvote/downvote numbers on NewJeans-related posts, regardless of the comments, the number of people criticizing them is overwhelmingly higher. Manipulating comments is easy, but if you try to upvote a post using multiple accounts, you get locked out immediately.”

Another commenter elaborated on the judicial developments, saying, “The injunction was granted, and all their attempts to manipulate public opinion have been exposed.”
Some users suggested that competition among fandoms was influencing these changes in public opinion, with one stating, “It’s because SM fans saw no more value in using NewJeans and discarded them without hesitation.”

Criticism of NewJeans’ legal strategies also surfaced, with another user stating, “NewJeans fans’ coordinated attack power has weakened, and logically, there’s no way to defend Min Hee-jin and NewJeans’ actions. They’re trying to break the contract and leave on their own terms.lol. Today’s injunction ruling showed that they had no solid evidence and were just dragging things out. The public saw this, and now they’ve completely lost public support.”

A final commenter harshly dismissed the assertion that NewJeans retains any significant support, stating, “Just check the top comments on Instiz (a prominent Korean forum) before talking. What do you mean, defending NewJeans? Instagram and YouTube have already been wrecked for a long time.”
Despite the backing of some Twitter users and international fans, the recent court ruling granting ADOR’s injunction has significantly deepened domestic skepticism. The future of NJZ’s reputation now hangs in the balance as they navigate this challenging landscape.
