NewJeans Issues Bold Statement to HYBE and ADOR: “We Will Never Return”

On January 23, the group issued a bold joint statement announcing their decision to engage legal representation to challenge actions taken by ADOR and HYBE. All five members—Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein—signed the statement, emphasizing their commitment to severing ties with their previous agency.

Recently, it was reported that ADOR filed a lawsuit aimed at validating the legality of our exclusive contract. They have also pursued an injunction to halt the cancellation of advertising deals and compel us to adhere to our contractual obligations. We received a notice regarding this just a few days ago, and in response, we have appointed Law Firm Sejong as our legal representatives.

Considering that HYBE and ADOR have engaged Law Firm Kim & Chang to represent their interests, we deemed it essential to secure a legal team capable of effectively addressing this escalating conflict. After thorough evaluation, we selected Sejong for their expertise and comprehension of the complex dynamics involving HYBE and ADOR.

The members articulated their concerns in the statement, accusing HYBE and ADOR of failing to uphold their responsibilities as management agencies. They pointed out that the companies did not provide adequate support and accused them of employing deceptive tactics, including holding clandestine meetings with their parents to coerce them into returning.

HYBE and ADOR have not fulfilled their obligations as our management agencies. Throughout our activities, we have faced a multitude of disruptions, both minor and significant. Instead of supporting our endeavors, they attempted to justify their abandonment of us by misleadingly framing it as an extended vacation intended to end our entertainment careers.

Even after we legally terminated our exclusive contract, we have encountered unfounded criticisms propagated through media outlets and online platforms. We believe this misinformation must have originated from within HYBE and ADOR, indicating their involvement in these malicious actions.

Although they repeatedly implore us to reconcile, we continue to experience harassment and subversion from HYBE and ADOR. They have recently conducted covert meetings with our parents, presumably to manipulate us into returning or to sow discord among us. We implore them to abandon these cowardly approaches and instead engage with us in a direct and transparent manner.

The group made it explicitly clear that reconciliation with HYBE and ADOR is off the table.

We want to be unequivocal: the five of us have no intention of returning to HYBE and ADOR, where trust—the most fundamental element—has been shattered.
