On July 10, HYBE revealed the lineup of artists set to take part in the upcoming “HYBE: We Believe In Music, A GRAMMY Museum Exhibit” at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, USA.
As the public noticed that NewJeans, one of HYBE’s well-known artists, was absent from the list, they started to wonder, “Why isn’t NewJeans included in the HYBE exhibition?”This curiosity was heightened by the fact that newer groups such as ILL-IT, TWS, and KATSEYE were featured. There were speculations that the exclusion of NewJeans could be due to ongoing conflicts between HYBE and Min Hee-jin, the head of ADOR.
HYBE later clarified that participation in the Grammy Museum exhibition was optional for each label. A representative stated to TenAsia that not all artists were obligated to take part in HYBE events, giving the examples of NewJeans not appearing at Weverse Con and BTS not participating as well.
ADOR simply replied to TenAsia’s inquiries regarding the absence, stating that it was a “label decision”without providing any additional details.
Despite both HYBE and ADOR stating that participation is optional, the absence of ADOR and NewJeans from an event featuring all HYBE labels and artists seems peculiar, particularly given the rumored tensions between HYBE and Min Hee-jin. According to industry insiders, unless there was a specific reason, ADOR and NewJeans could have participated in the exhibition as a sign of appreciation towards their fans.
This development has sparked speculation among fans that the ongoing tension between HYBE and Min Hee-jin could be impacting the artists’ schedules, resulting in a detrimental cycle. Fans are expressing worries that if HYBE did not actively promote collaboration, it could be considered neglect, while if Min Hee-jin’s personal feelings have caused a lack of cooperation, it is also a cause for concern.
According to industry experts, the artists’ activities and communication with fans should continue without interruption, despite any conflicts between HYBE and Min Hee-jin.
During the period of August 2 to September 15, HYBE will be hosting the ‘HYBE: We Believe In Music, A GRAMMY Museum Exhibit’ at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. The exhibit will showcase 12 artists from HYBE Labels, including Zico, BTS, SEVENTEEN, fromis_9, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, ENHYPEN, LE SSERAFIM, &TEAM, BOYNEXTDOOR, TWS, ILLIT, and KATSEYE. However, NewJeans will not be taking part in the exhibition.
