Tyler “Ninja”Blevins made a return to Fortnite after weeks of absence, igniting speculation among fans regarding his commitment to the game. Once the reigning king of the Battle Royale genre since 2017, Ninja has recently shifted his focus to a different title, Marvel Rivals, which has become his primary streaming activity.
Interestingly, during this hiatus, Ninja was unaware of the introduction of Fortnite’s new Rail Gun in update 33.20, which went live on January 14. It took him until January 27 to discover this update—a substantial delay for a player who is well-known for having his own skin in the game and a devoted fanbase.
Is Ninja Ready to Leave Fortnite Behind?
After immersing himself in Marvel Rivals for a fortnight, Ninja’s initial Fortnite stream led to mounting inquiries about his future in the game. Viewers were quick to express their concerns in the chat, questioning whether this marked the end of his Fortnite journey.
In his response, Ninja conveyed a mix of bewilderment and nostalgia, playfully stating, “I might be.”However, he reassured fans that Fortnite remains his “first love.”His intention is to evaluate the game’s current landscape and gauge whether he can rekindle his connection with it. The moment he returned to Fortnite, it was evident he hadn’t bid farewell permanently; he was merely exploring his options.
Ninja’s return was welcomed with enthusiasm as he quickly gained more subscribers in just 20 minutes than he had accumulated throughout his Marvel Rivals stint. He observed, “I’ve lost 5, 000 subscribers, ”attributing this decline to the slower growth and engagement opportunities within Marvel Rivals.
The difference in viewership is striking: Ninja’s Fortnite clips typically draw between 170, 000 and 400, 000 views, while his Marvel Rivals videos barely reach 30, 000 to 110, 000 views.

Moreover, Ninja noted that the rapid pace of action in Marvel Rivals hindered his ability to engage with his audience, making it less interactive. He remarked, “It is a lot easier to interact, to chat and vibe in any battle royale.” This insight underscores the social dynamics that Fortnite provides, allowing him to connect more deeply with his followers.
While Ninja’s path ahead may be ambiguous, one thing seems clear: he is still a pivotal figure in the Fortnite community. Fans are eager to witness him play what they admire, and it’s apparent that Marvel Rivals hasn’t captured his interest in the same way. The social interaction and leisurely pace of Fortnite offer him the connection with fans that Marvel Rivals cannot replicate.
Thus, it’s unlikely that Ninja will completely forsake Fortnite. He appears to be navigating through a transitional phase, and his absence from Fortnite might be brief, particularly given his fans’ strong preference for his gameplay.
