Nintendo has issued an important advisory for players of the highly anticipated Switch 2, which is set to launch on June 5. As excitement builds around the new portable console, the company emphasizes a crucial point regarding its screen protection.
In preparation for the release, Nintendo has made available a health and safety document for download. While this may initially seem unexciting, it contains a vital tip that can help prevent potential issues during the launch. Even if you typically skim over instruction manuals to dive straight into gameplay, it is crucial to pay close attention to the Switch 2’s screen protection.
Crucial Reminder: Do Not Remove the Protective Film
Nintendo strongly advises against removing the protective film that comes with the console’s screen. The manufacturer illustrates this by stating, “The screen is covered with a film layer designed to prevent fragments scattering in the event of damage. Do not peel it off.” This warning is particularly relevant due to the Switch 2’s glass screen, mirroring the design of the previous Switch OLED model, which also featured an “anti-scattering adhesive film.” This film serves to mitigate the risk of glass shards if the device were to be dropped.

Removing this protective layer could increase the risk of injury from sharp glass pieces, particularly concerning if young children are using the device, as they may handle it less cautiously.
Before you eagerly unpack your Switch 2 and consider peeling off all the protective coverings, remember to leave the screen protector intact to ensure safety and durability!
