Your quest for the Dawnmaster’s Crest in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3) is a venture worth undertaking, especially if you are prepared to wield a weapon that carries a slight curse. This journey will guide you toward acquiring one of the game’s most formidable maces, the Blood of Lathander. However, be forewarned—wielding this weapon may yield severe consequences later in your adventure. Regardless, your primary focus should be on completing your mission. Below, you’ll find a detailed guide to solving the Stained Glass puzzle and securing the Dawnmaster’s Crest.
Locating the Ceremonial Weapons and Solving the Stained Glass Puzzle
To obtain the Dawnmaster’s Crest, you will need to place four ceremonial weapons on their corresponding pedestals. Alternatively, there’s a more direct route to the chamber that contains the Blood of Lathander, where you can attempt to disarm the trap guarding it. This method can be quicker, but for clarity and simplicity, following the Crest route is highly recommended. Here’s how to proceed.
Begin by locating and placing the ceremonial weapons on their respective pedestals surrounding the Rosymorn Monastery. Each weapon must be positioned in front of its respective Dawnmaster, which will cause the nearby weapons and crystals to illuminate in a brilliant blue hue. Notably, you may use any mace, warhammer, or battleaxe to activate the statues; the longsword should already be in position.
The initial step to finding the Dawnmaster’s Crest is starting the quest labeled “Find the Blood of Lathander.”If you haven’t begun this quest yet, explore the lower levels of Rosymorn Monastery, particularly around the substantial statue near the main entrance.
Finding the Stained-Glass Window
To locate the Stained Glass window, ascend to the upper levels of the Rosymorn Monastery. The simplest way is through a boarded-up hole in the wall situated near the waypoint of the Monastery.
Climb up the cliffs towards the Monastery, breaking the wooden boards defending the entrance. Beware—inside the next chamber lurks a number of Gremishkas. Once vanquished, proceed through the large double doors to the east and continue along the northern path to discover the Stained Glass window. Refer to the map below for its precise location:

Now, let’s break down how to acquire each of the ceremonial weapons and tackle the Stained Glass puzzle.
1) Ceremonial Longsword Coordinates

2) Ceremonial Battleaxe Coordinates

Locate the Ceremonial Battleaxe at the (X:103, Y:45) coordinates, on the same floor as the stained glass. Move south from the stained glass until you reach a significant gap in the floor. Jump across the void and travel east until you find a locked, enchanted door. Use a lockpick to access the room by jumping over or destroying the beds inside.
Be prepared for a challenge; near the Ceremonial Battleaxe rests a Guardian of Faith sentry who will defend the axe fiercely. Keep your distance to avoid its radiant circle, and you can easily defeat it using ranged attacks.
3) Ceremonial Warhammer Coordinates

The Ceremonial Warhammer can be found inside the Eagle’s nest on the Monastery’s roof, located at the (X:80, Y:40) coordinates.
Similar to the Battleaxe, retrieving the Warhammer involves defeating hostile Eagles unless you can stealthily grab it without drawing their attention. My attempt at diplomacy failed, leading to the unfortunate necessity to kill the Eagles—a regretful moment for my Druid character but sometimes sacrifices must be made.
4) Rusty Mace Coordinates

This last weapon, while lacking ceremony, is still important. The Rusty Mace is located on the ground floor of the Monastery at (X:87, Y:32), resting next to a skeleton.
If you have opened the main entrance of the Monastery, proceed north until encountering a large sculpture of the ‘Blood of Lathander.’ From there, head east to find an oak door on your right, which leads to the Rusty Mace.
Placing the Ceremonial Weapons to Acquire the Dawnmaster’s Crest in BG3
Next, you will need to position the ceremonial weapons on the correct pedestals, as indicated by the stained glass design on the floor. Select each weapon from your inventory, click Throw, and aim it toward the pedestals.
- Ceremonial Longsword: Place it on the northwest pedestal.
- Ceremonial Battleaxe: Position it on the southwest pedestal.
- Ceremonial Warhammer: Place it on the northeast pedestal.
- Rusty Mace: Position it on the southeast pedestal.
Upon completing this task, a secret passage will unveil itself on the north wall of the room, revealing a pouch within. This pouch holds the Dawnmaster’s Crest.

Using the Dawnmaster’s Crest in BG3
With the Dawnmaster’s Crest in your possession, you are set to search for the Blood of Lathander. However, be cautious; entering the chamber without this Crest may trigger a treacherous trap while you attempt to claim the mace.
If you’re curious, consider trying to approach the Blood of Lathander once without the Crest—but don’t forget to save your game first to prevent losing any progress.
You will have the option to disarm the trap, and if successful, you may not need the Crest. Yet, be aware that this skill check may prove challenging, so acquiring the Crest beforehand is advisable for a safer approach.
