One Piece confirms the Lunarian King’s fate in chapter 1121

Previously known as Alber, King played a significant role as an antagonist in the Wano Arc of One Piece. As the only remaining Lunarian, King possessed innate powers that allowed him to withstand immense amounts of damage without being harmed. This impressive display caught the attention of Kaido, who then recruited Alber and bestowed upon him the name “King”. From that point on, King became Kaido’s most powerful and devoted subordinate for many years.

King was given the nickname “Wildfire”due to his remarkable skill in controlling flames that were as intense as magma, surpassing even the strongest fire in the world of One Piece. In the Wano Arc, King found himself in a fierce battle against Roronoa Zoro, the second-in-command of the Straw Hat Pirates. However, once Zoro unleashed his true abilities, the fight quickly became one-sided.

After successfully combining Conqueror’s Haki and Armament Haki, Zoro utilized this new Haki-based mode to overpower and defeat King. Despite being weakened from Zoro’s previous injuries, King was defeated once again by Marine Admiral Ryokugyu one week later. After this defeat, King never made another appearance. However, in One Piece chapter 1121, his ultimate fate was finally revealed to the delight of fans.

Please be aware that this article contains significant spoilers from the One Piece manga up to chapter 1121.

Fans can anticipate the official release of One Piece chapter 1121, set for July 22, 2024. In the meantime, they can get a sneak peek at the new installment’s contents through early leaks and raw scans. According to reports, the chapter will continue from where the last one ended, with the broadcast revealing the concluding portion of Dr Vegapunk’s message to the world.

According to Vegapunk, the secrets of the Void Century will eventually be revealed. The Ancient Weapons, responsible for the world’s downfall, are still in existence, indicating that a day of reckoning is on the horizon. The scientist further explains that the World Government consistently targets the descendants of certain races due to their close connection to the events of the past.

According to the scans of One Piece chapter 1121, the races featured include Buccaneers, Three-Eyed, and Lunarians. One panel depicts Bartholomew Kuma reminiscing about Vegapunk’s revelation that his blood holds significance due to his Buccaneer heritage. Marco is shown in another panel pondering Whitebeard’s mention of a long-forgotten “Kingdom of Gods.”

Despite being held captive by the Blackbeard Pirates, Charlotte Pudding reflects on the discrimination she faced as a member of the Three-Eyed race. But the most memorable moment was when King suddenly appeared.

The ex-associate of Kaido fondly remembers the time he was informed of the World Government’s offer of 100 million Berries for any knowledge about a surviving Lunarian. King remains quiet and wears a serious expression. As it is widely known, the Lunarian species, with King being the sole survivor, mysteriously vanished.

The sole piece of information that can be obtained is that the Lunarians used to reside on the Red Line, which is currently under the control of the World Government as the Holy Land of Mary Geoise. This could indicate that the World Government played a role in the near-annihilation of the Lunarian population.

It is evident that King’s reaction to Vegapunk’s message was a frowning one. In his speech, the scientist delved into the schemes of the World Government and their suppression of Joy Boy, topics that King cannot simply overlook.

Is the King Still Alive and in Good Health?

Despite being imprisoned, subjected to experiments, and targeted by the World Government, King’s animosity is likely directed more towards the oppressive establishment rather than Roronoa Zoro, who defeated him during the Onigashima Raid.

Despite this, the fight against Zoro undoubtedly had a lasting impact on King. Due to the Conqueror’s Haki-enhanced strike from the swordsman with green hair, King sustained a severe injury to his chest and even lost one of his limbs. This is evident in One Piece chapter 1121, where King is still seen wrapped in bandages, indicating that his wounds have yet to fully heal.

Despite being quickly outclassed by Ryokugyu during their brief fight, King was in such a weakened state that he was unable to activate his Lunarian powers or transform into his Devil Fruit form. While he is still recovering from his injuries, his current condition is an improvement from how he was during the fight.

In One Piece chapter 1121, King is seen in a dark room, giving no indication of his true location or current state. However, it is worth mentioning that Ryokugyu had subdued both King and Queen before departing the area and requesting a Marine battleship to be sent to Wano. It is possible that he intended for the ship to transport King and the others to prison.

Despite the lack of additional information about King’s current situation, it was a pleasant surprise to see him once again featured in One Piece. He had previously been referenced in the preceding chapters, where it was revealed that the World Government utilized his Lunarian genetic material to enhance the Seraphim cyborgs, giving them exceptional durability. However, this is the initial instance of him being openly showcased since the conclusion of the Wano Arc.

The mysteries surrounding the Lunarian race remain largely unexplained, possibly connected to the legend of Joy Boy. It is worth noting that King was portrayed as a devoted disciple of this renowned hero, suggesting that the remaining Lunarian may still have a significant role to play in the series.

This time, however, he is not an antagonist but rather someone who stands by the Straw Hats and their allies in their fight against the World Government. Of course, this is assuming that he is not once again their captive.
