The chapter not only features one of the most highly anticipated fights in the series, but it may also confirm a popular fan theory regarding a particular Gorosei’s sword. Fans are eagerly anticipating the release of the chapter to see if their theories are indeed true.

Exploring the Theory Regarding Shodai Kitetsu Becoming True in One Piece Chapter 1117
The spoilers for One Piece chapter 1117 revealed that the chapter opened with a glimpse into the state of SWORD after their escape from Hachinose Island following their rescue of Koby. They were gathered in a hospital, strategizing their next move based on the message they received from Vegapunk.
After briefly shifting focus to Egghead Island, where Nami’s group was preparing to depart and waiting for Zoro and Jinbe to join them, the attention returned to the Thousand Sunny. Saint Nusjuro tried to interrupt, but Zoro intervened and instructed everyone to leave without him and Jinbe, as they could catch up later.
The attention then turned to the Iron Giant, which was encircled by the Gorosei who were astonished to see the same robot that had attacked Mary Geoise 200 years ago. Just as Vegapunk was about to disclose a vital piece of information about the D. clan, the Gorosei swiftly impaled the Iron Giant, abruptly ending the transmission.
After their swords clashed during the confrontation between Zoro and Nusjuro, Zoro realized that the Gorosei’s sword was a Kitetsu blade, just like his Sandei Kitetsu. The Kitetsu blade is renowned for its “cursed”reputation as one of the Meito sword types.
There are three swords in the series that have a deadly curse. One of them is Sandai Kitetsu, a Meito blade created by Kozuki Sukiyaki and once wielded by a skilled swordsman. After changing hands multiple times, it eventually ended up with Ipponmatsu, a sword merchant in Louguetown. The sword was later acquired by Roronoa Zoro, a member of the Straw Hat crew, and remains in his possession.
The second blade is the Nidai Kitetsu, a Great Meito crafted by Kotetsu, the ancestor of Kozuki Sukiyaki. It remained in the possession of its creator until it was eventually passed down to Kozuki Sukiyaki, the descendant of the craftsman.
Regrettably, Luffy briefly acquired the sword and mischievously used it to attack enemies during the Wano arc. Eventually, it was returned to its rightful owner and remains in their possession. The third blade, known as the Shodai Kitetsu, is considered one of the most powerful swords in One Piece. However, the identity of its creator and wielder has yet to be revealed in the series.
According to speculation, the sword is currently owned by Gorosei Saint Van Nusjuro. The hilt and rounded cross pattée tsuba of the Gorosei’s blade are similar to the other two Kitetsu swords.
Additionally, the fact that Saint Nusjuro wields a Kitetsu blade in chapter 1117 serves as confirmation that the fan theory is indeed true and that he possesses the most powerful Kitetsu sword in the series.
