While we’ve known Hikaru’s involvement in Ai’s murder for some time, the true extent of it is revealed in Oshi no Ko Chapter 160.
Camouflaging itself as a lighthearted drama about idols, Oshi no Ko quickly turns the story on its head. As Ai is horrifically stabbed by an obsessive fan in front of her children, readers experience the same trauma as the characters.
Though it’s already a dark moment, it becomes more sinister when it’s revealed that Aqua and Ruby’s father instigated the murder. Up until that point, all we knew about him was that he was Ai’s ex, as she never mentioned him.
Eventually, more information about Hikaru Kamiki comes to light, including his shocking role as a sociopathic serial killer. However, his character takes an unexpected turn when he learns that Ai truly loved him and left him to spare him from burdens. Following this, Nino is revealed to be the ‘final’ villain in Chapter 155.

This seems like a turning point for Hikaru until another shocking twist is revealed in Chapter 159. The final panel shows Hikaru watching Ruby’s concert on his phone while Nino is caught by Akane and others. This could have been an innocent moment if Aqua hadn’t called him a liar.
The rest of the interaction continues in Oshi no Ko Chapter 160. After Aqua accuses him of manipulating vulnerable people around him, Hikaru insists he never asked Nino and Ryosuke to kill Ai. He claims he only spoke to them about their relationship, pretending he didn’t know how he had been fueling their obsession for years.
On that tragic day, Hikaru asked Ryosuke to deliver flowers to Ai on his behalf and provided her address. This led to Ryosuke, in a disturbed state of mind, killing Ai before taking his own life. All the while, Hikaru’s hands remained clean, with no evidence linking him to the crime.
This revelation highlights just how sinister and cunning Hikaru Kamiki truly is. After manipulating so many individuals, it’s likely he will face his reckoning by the end of the manga, possibly at the hands of his own son.
