Remembering Aqua’s previous remarks, Raida takes the opportunity to share the challenges of last-minute writing.

After mentioning that the play she had just watched was written by GOA, heeding Yoriko’s advice, Abiko decides to team up with the company, but with the stipulation that she wants to work closely with the scriptwriter in order to co-create the script. The scene then transitions to Raida arranging a virtual meeting between GOA, Abiko, and her editor.

During their conversation, they eventually come to a mutual understanding as Abiko recognizes GOA’s skills. She commends his writing and mentions how she recently appreciated a play he had written, asking him to create something similar for Tokyo Blade. The two artists spend the entire evening working together in a productive and enjoyable session, ultimately finishing the revised script.

In episode 4 of Oshi no Ko season 2, the cast begins rehearsing with the revised script. Kana gives positive feedback on the script, emphasizing the importance of strong acting. While the changes are well-received by Akane and the rest of the cast, Aqua and Melt find it challenging. The director requests that Aqua delivers a more emotional performance, as it is crucial for the stageplay’s impact on the audience.

Later, Akane attempts to comfort Aqua, but Kana notes that his personality may hinder his emotional performance. Aqua concurs and seeks advice from Kana on how to convey emotions. Kana recommends tapping into his emotions by envisioning the loss of his mother, but this brings up painful memories of Ai’s passing for Aqua. Kana then advises him to recall joyful moments to effectively convey the necessary emotions for his scene.

Despite being flooded with happy memories that bring a smile to his face, Aqua’s guilt resurfaces as he remembers his inability to save Ai, causing him to feel unworthy of joy. He becomes overwhelmed with emotion and exits the rehearsals feeling ill. The rest of the group, aware of his relationship with Akane, suggest she take care of him. Akane embraces Aqua with comforting words and even considers reaching out to his family, but Aqua stops her in order to spare Ruby from any worry.

Gotanda collects them and brings Aqua back to his home to rest. Akane expresses her apologies for the inconvenience. Gotanda assures her that he is aware of Aqua’s condition and that this is not the first time she has felt this way. As Aqua’s boyfriend, Gotanda discloses to Akane that she has gone through a traumatic experience in the past, which can sometimes trigger episodes like this.

Akane becomes aware of his PTSD, as Gotanda reveals that despite receiving counseling for many years, Aqua still grapples with the condition and attempts to conceal it from his loved ones to spare them concern. Gotanda acknowledges that overcoming such trauma is a difficult process and even admits to being somewhat impacted by it himself.

In the final moments of Oshi no Ko season 2 episode 4, Akane pays a visit to Aqua, who is resting. Filled with remorse, he whispers Ai’s name, causing Akane to understand the strong bond between Aqua and Ruby and their connection to Ai. She pieces together the puzzle of Ai’s murder, Aqua’s PTSD, Ruby’s efforts to revive B-Komachi, their mutual production company, and Aqua’s reaction to her previous prediction about the potential existence of Ai’s illegitimate children.
