The Twitch VTubing community is expressing discontent following the unexpected ban of streamer ‘chromuchromu’ on their birthday.
Planned fun for October 10, marked by a birthday celebration stream, abruptly ended with a seven-day suspension.
“I received a ban on my birthday, and I was adhering to all Twitch Terms of Service,” they stated.
i got banned on my birthday and i wasn’t breaking any twitch tos 🙁 @TwitchSupport https://t.co/6O6CypV8km

Following the ban, the VTuber clarified that the Amazon-owned platform flagged them for “youth risky” content.
“They believe there’s child endangerment involved,” they explained. “My streams are marked as 18+. While I do joke around, I never portray myself or make jokes as a child, and my character resembles a quirky chibi creature.”
well i got banned on my birthday for “youth risky”😀 @TwitchSupport i wasn’t breaking any TOS and my streams are labelled as 18+.. i make plenty of jokes but I never act like a child or make jokes about that, and my model is a freaky chibi creature?? please fix this

Twitch’s community guidelines state: “Any portrayal of fictional anime characters with child-like appearances framed sexually is prohibited. This rule applies to VTubers, especially when using child-like avatars in games such as VRChat, regardless of the broadcaster’s age.”
While chromuchromu’s avatar is not human in appearance, they have challenged the ban; however, the suspension persists, frustrating many community members.
“This is just awful! Wishing you a Happy Birthday, but you definitely don’t deserve this,” one user tweeted.
“It’s outrageous that VTubers are banned without justification, especially when adhering to the clear TOS rules. We saw this coming,” another commented.
This isn’t an isolated incident, as a prior case involved another VTuber, Fallenshadow, who was suspended on their birthday due to the actions of their avatar and their age—this left the creator baffled.
Concerns have been growing within the VTubing community regarding Twitch’s policies, which many perceive as targeted attacks against them.
Recently, Twitch clarified its community guidelines, highlighting that VTubers are expected to adhere to the same attire regulations as traditional streamers. They responded to the backlash by asserting that their rules remained unchanged and were simply aimed at improving clarity.
i don’t wanna let this ruin my birthday, i’m sad but there’s nothing i can do right now.. so thank you so much for all of the fun tonight!! 💗i’ll make it all up to you in 7 days or maybe sooner if twitch sets me free

In the meantime, chromuchromu has committed to compensating for the disrupted birthday stream once they are unbanned and hopes this suspension won’t overshadow their special occasion.
