The Overwatch 2 development team is taking significant steps to reintroduce a much-loved feature: end-of-match voting cards. These cards, which were a staple of the original Overwatch, allow players to cast votes for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) after a match, showcasing highlights such as total eliminations, healing stats, and unique hero performances.

At the launch of Overwatch 2, many features from the original game were removed, including these beloved voting cards, sparking disappointment among long-time players. However, fans have continually expressed their desire for this feature to make a comeback, and the recent announcements from the developers generate hope for its revival, although it might differ from what existed in Overwatch 1.

Reinstating Overwatch’s Iconic Voting Cards

In a blog post dated July 7, the development team articulated their focus on enhancing player choice, particularly concerning progression and rewards. They acknowledged feedback from the community, stating the desire for features like the end-of-match voting cards has been heard. The team recognizes that such elements add distinctive character to the gameplay experience.

The developers emphasized, “That kind of social expression matters.” They hinted at potential ideas regarding the return of these voting cards while also considering adjustments to the endorsement system. Their goal is to create more avenues for players to positively interact and recognize one another within the game.

While details surrounding the new voting system remain sparse, this initiative aligns with other commitments from the developers to enhance player agency through features such as hero bans and map voting. Furthermore, they plan to introduce additional options for players to decide how they unlock items as they approach Season 18.

The team stated, “Rather than overhaul big systems like progression, we’re looking to build gradually by adding more ways for you to earn cool stuff, chase your chosen goals, and feel rewarded for your time.” This approach indicates a thoughtful evolution of the game, with new features likely rolling out gradually.

As we move closer to Season 18, players can expect further updates revealing more specifics about these enhancements. The anticipation of these changes reflects the developers’ commitment to fostering a more engaging and community-centered gaming environment.
