A player of Overwatch 2 has successfully lost weight by simultaneously playing the game and exercising, and has also provided tips on how others can achieve the same results.
A player of Overwatch 2 recently shared how the 5v5 competitive shooter has positively impacted their weight loss journey, resulting in a loss of approximately 70 lbs.
Over the years, there have been numerous ways to incorporate video games into weight loss efforts. A prime example is Nintendo’s Ring Fit Adventure, a popular option that promotes physical activity and supports a healthy lifestyle. Additionally, there are many virtual reality exercise experiences available as well.
Despite initial doubts, one player claims that Overwatch 2 can also lead to similar results if approached correctly. In a Reddit thread, this player shared their weight loss journey and weight graph, revealing that they started a year and a half ago and have since lost 70 lbs.

They would place their propped-up Nintendo Switch in front of their treadmill and detach the joycons to play Overwatch 2 while running. Their strategy was to walk at 4mph during games and increase their speed to 6mph while waiting in the queue. This surprisingly effective method kept them entertained and motivated during their runs.
Despite the player having played Overwatch 2 on the Nintendo Switch before, they were still able to fully engage in their workout even though it took some getting used to aiming with the joy-cons and playing at 30 FPS.
They noted that when the mind is occupied and one looks forward to it, “the entire workout flies by.”
“According to that weight graph, when I began posting my weight I weighed 250 pounds, but now I weigh 184 pounds! If you are serious about losing weight, I highly recommend this method.”
At the conclusion of the thread, the player declared that they had achieved Platinum rank in all roles as a “treadmill Switch warrior.”
The player’s efforts in their weight loss journey have attracted a significant amount of attention from the community, with many others taking to the comments to offer congratulations and praise for their dedication.
One player wrote, “I must admit, based on the title, I anticipated you would say something like ‘I played so much I forgot to eat.’ Nevertheless, congratulations! Losing such a significant amount of weight while gaming is truly impressive.”
“Despite this, one individual playfully shared that the initial 30 lbs they lost was due to their body’s stress response while playing tank in competitive matches. They humorously added, “Constantly feeling anxious and on edge from the fear of blinking and getting crowd-controlled into oblivion definitely helped suppress my appetite.”
In general, the player urged others to take this into consideration and emphasized the importance of having fun while playing the game and exercising.
