On May 1st, a post titled “Oh I saw a hilarious car ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ”was shared on the online community Dmitory. The two photos included in the post quickly went viral on other social media platforms and online communities such as X (formerly Twitter), theqoo, Ruliweb, and Inven.
The initial image displays a common sticker featuring a rabbit character on a car. This rabbit is the emblem of NewJeans, the girl group formed by Min Hee-jin, the CEO of ADOR, a label under HYBE that is currently in conflict with HYBE’s Chairman Bang Si-hyuk.
The rabbit in the second photo was spotted donning a blue baseball cap and a green striped t-shirt, the same attire worn by Min Hee-jin during her emergency press conference regarding her conflict with HYBE last month.
During that time, Min Hee-jin made a bold statement by using informal language and even swearing during the press conference. Her surprising revelations about HYBE’s management and Chairman Bang Si-hyuk became a trending topic and received support from netizens. As a result, Min Hee-jin’s outfit quickly sold out after the event.
In Dmitory, other netizens couldn’t help but burst into laughter when they saw the picture. They left comments such as, “How did you manage to paint it? ㅋㅋㅋ It’s so cool ㅋㅋㅋ The car of a NewJeans otaku..”, “ㅋㅋㅋㅋ So adorable ㅋㅋ”, “What a crazy idea ㅋㅋㅋㅋ”, “She’s becoming quite famous ㅋㅋㅋㅋ”, “How did you dress up the rabbit? ㅋㅋㅋㅋ It’s so cute”, “Definitely the best among the Bunnies ㅋ
The photo was also shared by Instagram users, accompanied by captions such as “I wouldn’t be surprised if Min Hee-jin gains her own fandom at this rate. Is NewJeans Min Hee-jin’s alter ego?” , “Min-Jeansㅋㅋㅋ” , and “ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ So many people are finding the picture hilarious ㅋ” .
Recently, there have been reports that Min Hee-jin had requested HYBE earlier this year to grant her the ability to terminate her contract without seeking approval from the board of directors. HYBE, however, denied this request and deemed it unreasonable. On May 2nd, Min Hee-jin spoke out against these allegations and revealed the pressure she faced from HYBE in a statement through ADOR.
The resolution to the ongoing dispute between Min Hee-jin and HYBE will come to a head at the upcoming board of directors meeting on the 10th. The shareholders’ meeting will follow in late May, after ADOR’s own board meeting.
