After a first season which convinced its audience, Percy Jackson is preparing to return to service at Disney+.
The first season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians got off to a flying start on Disney+: streaming quickly gained popularity, succeeding in its quest to adapt Rick Riordan’s novels.
Between enthusiastic reviews, a stellar cast and an adaptation supervised by the novelist, the series had the shoulders to measure up to the 2010 film. And it won by far, to the point that spectators are only waiting for one more thing now that the last episode is out: the sequel!
Because the first season only adapted the first novel, The Lightning Thief. However, the literary saga actually has seven books! Obviously, there is still material to exploit. So, sequel or no sequel?
Will there be a season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians?
On February 7, 2024, Variety announced that the second season of Percy Jackson had been validated by Disney+.
If season 2 had already been the subject of numerous rumors, generally fueled by the showrunners indicating that they had started writing, it had not yet received official confirmation. It is now done, to the delight of fans.
The three main actors will return, to pick up where episode 8 left viewers. In the second volume of Percy Jackson, the young hero and his friends embark on a new adventure, with the aim of recovering the Golden Fleece, a relic ensuring the security of Camp Half-Blood.
The screenwriters having started the writing work in advance, the wait should not be too long. Especially if we add the fact that the young stars embodying the trio of adolescent heroes risk suffering a well-known evil in works involving young actors: growth over time, something that every producer wants to avoid at all costs.
For those who have not yet seen the first season, Percy Jackson and the Olympians is available on Disney+.
