Pirate Software has recently faced a significant subscriber loss on YouTube, shedding over 100, 000 followers in a mere two weeks. This dramatic decline is attributed to the ongoing backlash against his controversial comments regarding the Stop Killing Games (SKG) movement.
The downward trend began on June 23, coinciding with the release of a video by Ross Scott, the founder of the WeG campaign. In this video, titled The End of Stop Killing Games, Scott accused Pirate of undermining the objectives of the movement and misrepresenting its intentions in his own 2023 video response.
Subscriber Exodus Continues for Pirate Software
The fallout has been evidently recorded by Social Blade, revealing that Pirate Software’s channel experienced a loss of approximately 110, 000 subscribers between June 26 and July 9. If we expand our analysis to 30 days, this figure escalates to around 120, 000 subscribers.
Notably, the peak of daily subscriber losses occurred on June 26, when losses surged to about 20, 000. This trend has since diminished but continues to impact Pirate Software, with subsequent daily losses averaging around 10, 000.

Pirate Software’s subscriber count has plummeted by over 100, 000 from June 25 to July 9, 2025.
During a live Twitch stream on July 4, Jason Thor Hall—better known as Pirate—revealed that he has received death threats and was targeted by swatting since the release of his WeG-related video. In a striking remark, he stated, “I hope your initiative gets everything that you asked for, but nothing you wanted, ”reflecting his contentious view towards the movement.
As of the latest updates, the Stop Killing Games EU Citizens initiative has achieved an impressive milestone, garnering over 1.2 million signatures, indicating the ongoing support for the campaign and its goals.
