Daisy Ridley’s anticipated Star Wars film, which centers around her character Rey, has faced another delay. Meanwhile, projects like Shawn Levy’s Starfighter continue to progress at Lucasfilm.

In the concluding moments of The Rise of Skywalker, Rey returns to Tatooine with her iconic gold lightsaber. Encountering the Force spirits of both Luke and Leia, she embraces her identity as a Skywalker, marking a controversial and divisive ending that has left fans pondering her future adventures.

Recent insights from insider Daniel Richtman indicate that the Rey-focused project is currently on hold, as both Levy’s and James Mangold’s Star Wars efforts take precedence.

Shawn Levy is at the helm of Star Wars: Starfighter, a new standalone film set post-The Rise of Skywalker. This installment is expected to feature Ryan Gosling, and the narrative will reportedly follow a young hero and his uncle on a mission within the expansive galaxy.

Contrastingly, James Mangold’s Dawn of the Jedi project has generated significant excitement. This film aims to explore the origins of the Force and the first Jedi, shaping an essential piece of Star Wars lore.

Despite the temporary stall, fans shouldn’t lose hope for the Rey film. According to Richtman, the project has not been scrapped and is merely on hiatus.

Currently, screenwriter George Nolfi, known for his work on The Bourne Ultimatum, is involved in crafting the screenplay for this forthcoming Rey-centric narrative. Ridley expressed confidence in the project, stating, “I have not read the latest script, but I know what’s happening, and I know the story. It feels really good that George is a phenomenal writer, ” in an interview with Comic Book earlier this year.

She further emphasized the team’s commitment to ensuring that the storytelling is executed in the best possible manner.

In the meantime, fans are encouraged to keep an eye on other exciting Star Wars titles in development, including The Mandalorian and the adventures featuring Grogu.
