The anticipation for The Elder Scrolls 6 is reaching new heights as Bethesda’s studio head, Todd Howard, has announced that most of their development team is now dedicated to this long-awaited project. This confirmation follows the recent updates to Starfield, which Bethesda has successfully launched for PS5, alongside its final expansion.
In a recent interview with GamesRadar, Howard confirmed that the studio is shifting gears to focus entirely on the development of The Elder Scrolls 6, a project fans have eagerly awaited for nearly a decade.
Bethesda’s Commitment to The Elder Scrolls 6
“The majority of this building is working on The Elder Scrolls 6, ” Howard stated, expressing excitement about returning to this beloved universe. He noted that returning to this fantasy realm feels distinctly different from working on Starfield or Fallout, highlighting the unique essence of The Elder Scrolls series.
During the lengthy period since The Elder Scrolls 6 was first announced, Bethesda has been busy with a variety of titles, including Fallout 76, Starfield, and a remaster of Oblivion. In addition, they’ve published popular games like Wolfenstein, Doom Eternal, and Ghostwire: Tokyo. The extensive portfolio of releases underscores the time that has passed since the previous Elder Scrolls installment.
Looking ahead, while specific details about the game remain scarce, the shift towards full-scale production for The Elder Scrolls 6 indicates that it is firmly on Bethesda’s radar. However, fans should temper their excitement as the release timeline is still not clear, and it may potentially be a next-generation title.
In light of the nearly ten-year hiatus since the announcement, Howard reassured fans that Bethesda feels confident about their current direction with its franchises. As we await further updates, it is clear that The Elder Scrolls 6 is a priority for the studio.
