Disturbing Allegations Against Omega X’s Executive

In a significant legal development, seven members of K-pop group Omega X filed a formal complaint in August 2023, detailing alarming incidents involving their executive, referred to as A. Among the various allegations, a troubling encounter from September 2022, during a world tour in a South American airport, highlights A’s inappropriate behavior. One member recounted how A, intoxicated at the time, linked arms and hugged him without his consent. Another member shared a disturbing experience from July 2022, noting that A touched his thigh inappropriately during a meeting in the company office.

Investigation Outcomes and Counter-Claims

Following a detailed investigation, authorities deemed the allegations credible, with recommendations for indictment concerning six members. However, the claim from member Hwichan was dismissed due to insufficient evidence. In a surprising twist, A leveled a counter-complaint against Hwichan, accusing him of sexual harassment, which is also under review by prosecutors.

Agency Misconduct Uncovered

The scandal emerged following an exposé in October 2022, when shocking footage surfaced showing male idols subjected to verbal and physical abuse, coercion to drink, and other forms of sexual harassment at the hands of senior agency officials. Despite the agency’s denial and allegations of contract tampering, the Seoul Central District Court ruled in favor of the idols, citing misconduct and awarding each member damages of 5 million KRW.

Assault Charges and Ongoing Trials

The situation has escalated further, as Executive A now also faces assault charges. In a striking testimony, member Jaehan reported an incident after a performance in Los Angeles on October 22, 2022, where A allegedly yanked his hoodie near a hotel elevator, resulting in Jaehan falling. Although A was fined 500, 000 KRW, she is appealing this decision, and a new trial is underway, with a verdict anticipated in July.
