With over 5, 167 reviews, the highly anticipated title has received more than 3, 000 positive ratings; however, it has also garnered over 2, 000 negative reviews, bringing it precariously close to a “Mostly Negative”rating on the platform.
Challenges Faced by Spider-Man 2 on PC Launch
Despite its successful release as a beloved PlayStation exclusive on October 20, 2023, the PC version of Spider-Man 2 has stumbled significantly since its launch. Many players have reported experiencing severe gameplay disruptions, specifically frequent crashes that impede playability.
Reports indicate that even those with high-performance PCs—well beyond the game’s stated minimum and recommended requirements—are facing issues. One user lamented, “This game is an unoptimized mess. Random crashes and hiccups render it unplayable on any system I’ve tried.” Interestingly, they noted that it seemed to perform adequately on the Steam Deck OLED.

I’m running everything maxed on my 4080 super and achieving around 90 FPS with Frame Gen.” However, some players found themselves in a middle ground, acknowledging the game’s potential yet voicing concerns about optimization.
