In the exhilarating world of Monster Hunter Wilds, the choice of weaponry is essential for your survival against formidable foes. With a vast array of options available in each category, mastering the crafting and upgrading of your weapons is crucial to your success. This guide will walk you through the essential steps for both crafting and upgrading your armaments.
Crafting Weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds

To begin crafting your weapons, visit the blacksmith named Gemma, who is located at the Smithy in Base Camp. Gemma resides at the main Base Camp, which is situated near the player’s tent and provides access to the surrounding areas. Make sure to communicate with her to start the crafting process.
Once engaged, select the Forge/Upgrade Equipment option, followed by one of the 14 weapon categories. This will present you with a visual tree of weapons specific to that category, regardless of your current crafting capabilities.

The weapon tree displays base weapons starting from the left. You can select a base weapon to review its stats and crafting costs. Initial weapons may require only Zenny, but as you progress, subsequent weapons will demand both Zenny and various monster parts or materials. Confirm your choice to craft the weapon.
Upgrading Weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds

Gemma also offers players the ability to upgrade their weapons using the same weapon tree system. While base weapons are positioned on the left, you’ll find the upgrade options as nodes extending to the right. Keep in mind that crafting an upgrade will replace your existing base weapon.
Upgrades come with their own costs, requiring Zenny and specific monster parts or resources. As long as you have obtained at least one of the required components, you can view the list of needed materials. For convenience, players may utilize the Sub-Menu to add potential upgrades to their wishlist, allowing the game to notify them when they have gathered enough resources for crafting or upgrading.
