The textures in Monster Hunter Wilds present a notable disparity. While some textures appear crisp and well-defined, others exhibit low resolution that detracts from the overall visual experience. This issue is not specific to any one platform; even players using high-end PCs are encountering these texture discrepancies.

Although CAPCOM is expected to address these texture concerns through a future update, players seeking enhanced graphical fidelity can currently opt for the High Resolution Texture Pack, available exclusively for the PC version of Monster Hunter Wilds.

Acquiring the High Resolution Texture Pack for PC

To access the improved textures and unlock the “Highest” texture preset in-game, players must purchase and install the Monster Hunter Wilds – High Resolution Texture Pack DLC via Steam.

  • After adding the DLC, Steam will start downloading the texture pack automatically. Please note that this download is quite substantial, totaling around 70 GB — exceeding the game’s base size. If you wish to suspend the download temporarily, uncheck the texture pack from your DLC list to continue playing without disruption.
  • This can be done by navigating to the DLC menu within your Steam library for Monster Hunter Wilds and unchecking the texture pack option.

  • When you’re ready to proceed, simply recheck the DLC box, and the download will restart.

Upon successful installation, the “Highest” texture setting will be available. This option significantly enhances the visual quality and overall aesthetic of the game. However, players have reported instances of stuttering when using this setting.

Moreover, it’s important to note that activating this high-resolution texture pack demands additional VRAM; players should ensure their GPU possesses at least 16 GB of VRAM, as recommended by CAPCOM. If you’re experiencing instability or performance issues, consider reverting to the “High” texture setting for a smoother gaming experience.

Don’t forget to explore the photo mode and capture some stunning images with the new texture pack!
