In a recent release on the Black Ops 6 store, a new HDR Blueprint has caused a stir among players, with many labeling the accompanying cosmetic as “embarrassing”and considering it the “final straw”in their engagement with the game.

The Call of Duty franchise’s shift toward more eccentric and vivid cosmetic options has drawn mixed reactions from the community. While some players appreciate the inclusion of iconic figures like Beavis and Butt-Head or the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles roaming the battlefield, others long for the more realistic aesthetics of earlier titles.

This ongoing discussion about the direction of Black Ops 6 was reignited with the arrival of the latest Seaborne Mastercraft bundle. This pack features a range of nautical-themed items, most notably the Sea Rogue skin for Woods, which humorously transforms him into an octopus. Accompanying this skin is the Nautiloid Blueprint for the HDR Sniper Rifle, which has sparked considerable controversy among the player base.

Community Outcry Over the “Garbage”HDR Skin

The moment Reddit user ‘KlemTcen’ posted a screenshot of the sniper rifle, it didn’t take long for players to voice their disapproval regarding the extravagant skin. One player sarcastically remarked, “Oh boy, another embarrassing bundle for this dumpster fire of a game. Can’t wait to not waste money on this garbage lol, ” while another chimed in, expressing, “Ngl this s**t genuinely looks stupid.”

Others expressed their discontent, with one saying, “Absolutely hideous, Black Ops 6 and its buffet of cringe was the final straw for me with this franchise.”

With Battlefield 6 set to launch later this year, expectations are high for competition with Call of Duty, leading some players to consider switching camps. One user declared, “It’s time to ditch COD for good. Battlefield 6 is going to stomp it, ” while another echoed the sentiment, stating, “BF6 is looking phenomenal so far though, I hope it forces CoD to seriously reevaluate its current position.”

In light of these criticisms, Battlefield 6 enthusiasts have urged DICE not to replicate Call of Duty’s whimsical cosmetic strategy. Interestingly, there are reports indicating that Activision is aware of the discontent surrounding the game’s aesthetic choices, with insiders suggesting that Black Ops 7 may see a return to more traditional designs.
