Niantic’s implementation of changes to AR snapshots in Pokemon Go has been met with anticipation from players who believe the changes may be “annoying”for them.
After reviewing the upcoming changes to AR snapshots, most Pokemon Go players are in support of them. However, there is one aspect that some players disagree with – the requirement for buddy Pokemon snapshots to be taken in AR mode. While the game will allow players to disable AR, it will require additional steps to capture these snapshots and earn buddy hearts.
Recently announced, these changes mean that AR will be required for taking photos of your buddy Pokemon. However, if your device is not compatible with AR, you will still be able to access this feature.
In addition, you will have to complete an extra step during the process: Searching for a “static background”and then interacting with and taking snapshots of your friend in that setting.
Upon learning of the modifications, numerous players have assembled to voice their opposition, claiming that this additional requirement is not only bothersome, but also unnecessary. However, several features, such as Smeargle photobombs, will still be available when capturing screenshots of your buddy Pokemon.
I hate this. I don’t use AR and I never will. byu/Competitive_Lawyer_1 inpokemongo
“The Op expressed their frustration with Smeargle encounters, stating that the bright green background makes it difficult to use AR and their buddies do not automatically walk out unless AR is turned off. Another player confirmed this, sharing that they had also encountered a Smeargle with the green static background this morning.”
At the same time, users of AR-capable phones may experience difficulties due to the changes made to these AR features, as one trainer clarified:
The ‘go snapshot’ feature can only be used to disable AR if your phone is not capable of supporting it. However, if your phone has AR capabilities, you must utilize it when capturing a photo of a non-buddy from your collection.
Consider initiating CD photobomb encounters. Previously, the simplest method was to quickly take a snapshot of the latest catch and link them together. However, it appears that each encounter will now require the use of ‘flat surface detection’.
In addition, user ‘L50 Valor’ pointed out that the lack of camera interaction in the non-AR+ mode has made it worse and now it seems to be constantly forced on devices that support it for the ‘GO snapshot’ modes.
Remember that these updates are still being implemented, and devices with AR capabilities will likely be required to function in AR mode in the near future.
