Pokémon Go player misses uncatchable Legendary

A player of Pokémon Go missed the opportunity to capture a rare legendary Pokémon because it appeared in a location where it was impossible to capture him.

Pokémon Go players have more difficulty capturing Pokémon than fans of the main games. You have to rely on Poké Balls, Berries and sophisticated throws. You cannot rely on status effects or an Ability to hold a wild Pokémon in place.

The fact that certain Legendary and Mythical Pokémon in Pokémon Go can be incredibly rare and locked behind paywalls (at least temporarily) means that missing your chance can be incredibly frustrating. After all, it might be a while before you get another one.

There’s also the chance that you won’t encounter a rare Pokémon because of the outside world. Usually, wild Pokémon appear a respectable distance from each other in Pokémon Go, but sometimes they will appear somewhere they shouldn’t.

A Pokémon Go player missed a Legendary Bird because it appeared near a PokéStop

A user on the Pokémon Go Reddit shared an image of how they lost a chance on a notoriously rare Galar Moltres. This is because it appeared on a PokéStop, preventing the player from initiating the encounter and giving them time to escape.

Shoutout to my first ever Galar Bird spawning in a place that made it near impossible to click on today. Oh, and it despawned before I could click it 😛 byu/monkeruminations inpokemongo

“I had a lot of fun trying to click on the guy only to get the PokéStop to appear,” the author said, “Or the annoying Dudouvet/Sucroquin instead. The Galar guy decided to quickly disappear when I was 5 attempts away. My hatred for event Pokémon has only increased now lol.”

The author wasn’t the only person to miss a Legendary Bird: “Sad. I saw 2 where I had an egg that hatched right after seeing it then ran away before I finished the hatching animations,” according to one user, while another said, “Dude, this happened to me with the last bird I saw lol.”

Pokémon Go has encountered numerous visual issues over the years, affecting character models, including a recent one that ruined Hisui’s Typhlosion’s eyes despite them being correct on his shiny model.

Usually, these problems are annoying but harmless. If Pokémon appear at PokéStops, that means they can’t be captured, which defeats the purpose of the entire game, as the whole point of Pokémon Go is to capture Pokémon you encounter in the wild.
