Pokémon Go players are amazed by a glitch in landscape mode

A Pokémon Go fan came across a strange landscape mode bug, and some trainers were amazed at the possibilities it could open up.

From time to time, some rather strange bugs appear around Niantic’s mobile monster catching game, Pokémon Go.

Some bugs involve Pokémon evolving into different species while others graphically distort Pokémon into horrible monsters.

However, some bugs have unexpected value, like the landscape mode bug that made some fans intrigued by the possibilities it could bring if it were actually implemented in the game.

Pokémon Go trainers amazed by landscape mode bug

A player on the Pokémon Go subreddit shared evidence that he had encountered the “landscape mode” bug, but wasn’t sure how to reproduce it.

The author shared a screenshot that showed Pokémon Go’s typical UI flipped on its side, revealing a much wider field of view that showed distant Gyms, Raids, and PokéStops.

Although some players may be seeing this landscape mode bug for the first time, it has actually been known about for a while and can be reproduced with a little finesse.

To configure this bug, simply open the Pokémon Go app while holding the phone aside. Navigate to the Settings menu and click “Report a high priority issue” then “Yes.”

This should open a browser. Go to the Home screen, reopen Pokémon Go, and it should be in landscape mode.

Although this bug has been known for a while, many first-time viewers have been impressed with how the game looks in landscape mode. “It looks amazing though…” one trainer said.

Others who have tried the bug for themselves have noted that while the main screen is impressive, other aspects of the game don’t quite scale. “I did this before during Go Fest 2023, the main screen looks cool but for watching any Pokémon or the capture screen it’s all mixed up lol.”

Niantic probably hasn’t officially implemented the landscape mode feature because of the design headaches it would include. However, seeing Pokémon Go in landscape mode certainly has its charm.
