Pokémon Go players are calling for a simple change for winter

Pokémon Go players have begged Niantic to stop offering quests requiring hatching eggs as temperatures drop during the winter months.

Pokémon Go events usually feature one or two one-off Researches that trainers can undertake to earn rewards and encounter Pokémon.

These one-off Studies have many different tasks to complete. Some require strengthening Pokémon, capturing specific types of Pokémon, or hatching Eggs..

However, some players have asked Niantic to stop focusing on egg hatching quests as temperatures drop during winter.

Pokémon Go fans want Niantic to stop egg hatching quests in winter

In the thread, the author explained: “For the last two weeks the temperature has been close to 0°C or below, meaning going outside wasn’t something I could do for long. But for the last two events, the majority of Field Research missions involved hatching eggs.”

In particular, the Beaded Odyssey event and the Shimmering Dream event both featured several Field Research missions focused on hatching Eggs.

The author went on to explain: “If it was a different season or the hatching distance was reduced, I wouldn’t mind, but it’s winter for half the world.”

Many fans shared the trainer’s pain and noted that hatching Eggs would be difficult for them too. “It’s -15°F where I live [right now]. Hatching is going to be painful, if not impossible,” said one fan.

Others shared tips on how players could stay warm and still hatch Eggs. “If anyone is lucky enough to have a treadmill, it counts your distance until the app is opened,” one user said.

Of course, some noted that it would be impractical to customize quests based on changing seasons, given that Pokémon Go is a global game. “Niantic is not responsible for your climate. It’s a global game and in many places around the world the weather is currently excellent for walking,” argued one player.

Hopefully the trainers manage to stay safe and warm while completing their Field Research missions during the colder months of the year.
