Pokemon Go: Rediscover Kanto with Wiglett, biomes, and more

Pokemon Go has revealed Rediscover Kanto, which includes Wiglett, detailed biomes, and numerous other additions.

Pokemon Go has announced the Rediscover Kanto event as part of their larger Rediscover Go initiative, in order to motivate veteran players to return to the mobile game.

The Rediscover Kanto event will primarily highlight Generation 1 content, although it will not be restricted to Red & Blue alone. Trainers can also anticipate the introduction of Gen 9’s Wiglett and Wugtrio during this event.

In addition, Pokemon Go will now include complete biomes for creatures to live in and for players to discover.

Pokemon Go Rediscover Kanto Start Date & Time

The Rediscover Kanto event for Pokemon Go, as stated on the official blog, commenced on Monday, April 22 at 10 AM PDT and will conclude on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 8 PM PDT.

Pokemon Go: Rediscover Kanto with Wiglett’s Debut

The Rediscover Kanto event will showcase the first appearance of Wiglett, the Garden Eel Pokemon from Generation 9 that bears a striking resemblance to Kanto’s Diglett.

Through the newly introduced beach biomes, trainers can find and catch Wiglett. Wugtrio, the evolved form of Wiglett, is also available for trainers to obtain.

Pokemon Go: Rediscovering Kanto’s Biomes

This event has also brought the introduction of biomes to Pokemon Go. These biomes not only impact the backdrop of Pokemon encounters based on the surrounding environment, but also influence the types of Pokemon that appear in that particular area.

During this event, specific biomes will be featuring Pokemon originating from Kanto. These biomes consist of:

Mountain
City

Pokemon Go Rediscover Kanto bonuses

During this event, fans have access to a variety of bonuses that they can make use of.

Rediscover Kanto Featured Attacks

During this event, trainers have the opportunity to evolve certain Pokemon and gain access to featured moves for a limited time. These moves are typically exclusive to Community Days, making it important for players to make the most of this chance.

The featured moves will be learned by the following Pokemon if they are evolved during Rediscover Kanto.

Obtain a Venusaur with the Charged Attack Frenzy Plant by evolving Ivysaur.
To obtain a Charizard with the Charged Attack Blast Burn, evolve Charmeleon.
To obtain a Blastoise that knows the Charged Attack Hydro Cannon, evolve Wartortle.

Event Bonuses

Furthermore, the Rediscover Kanto event will offer familiar bonuses similar to those featured in previous events. Trainers will have access to the following bonuses during this event:

The PokeStop spin streak lasting seven days will result in an increase in XP.
The XP given for a week-long streak of catching Pokemon has been raised.
Friendship levels will increase faster than normal through opening Gifts, trading Pokemon, or battling together in raids, Gyms, or Trainer Battles
Increased chance to encounter Shiny Bulbasaur, Shiny Charmander, and Shiny Squirtle in their respective biomes

Pokemon Go Rediscover Kanto Field Research

Fans can look forward to brand new Field Research tasks at this event, including the challenge of Powering up Pokemon five times. Successfully completing these tasks will reward trainers with 25 Mega Energy for each Kanto Starter.

Pokemon Go: Rediscovering Kanto Special Research

In addition, all trainers are eligible for a complimentary Special Research quest through Rediscover Kanto. This allows players to complete various tasks and receive rewards such as Stardust, XP, and encounters with Gen 1 Pokemon.
