Despite the desire for a Master Ball, it appears that the majority of Pokemon Go players are keeping the coveted item for themselves due to its scarcity and reluctance to use it.
In games such as Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, it is a challenge to come across Legendary Pokemon. These powerful Pocket Monsters, such as Lugia, can only be battled after completing a lengthy campaign and investing hours into training. However, in Pokemon Go, locating and capturing a Legendary Pokemon can be even more difficult.
Fortunately, the Master Ball has been introduced into Pokemon Go. In fact, players now have the opportunity to earn an additional one through the latest Pokemon Go Master Ball Special research. Despite now having a total of three possible Master Balls, many players are still holding onto them, as shown in this Reddit post where fans have explained their reasoning.
The majority of the comments below the post revolve around catching Pokemon in mainline games. It appears that most individuals prefer to reserve a Master Ball for any Shiny Pokemon that may hurt itself, as explained by one comment: “The ideal scenario for using a Master Ball would be encountering a shiny in harsh weather conditions or a shiny that is prone to fleeing.”
Fortunately, players have a higher chance of catching a Shiny Legendary after a Raid in Pokemon Go, but this raises the question of when it would be best to utilize this advantage. While the Galarian birds are not easy to come across, they can be more frequently encountered by using incense. However, determining when a Legendary Pokemon has exceptional stats can be challenging.
It is a well-known fact that the Master Ball holds great significance and should not be used carelessly, yet it remains a scarce resource with limited usefulness for the majority of players in the community. Given the significant variations between mainline games and Pokemon Go, it would be wise to have some additional security measures in place if we are unable to save them. It is time to be more generous with the distribution of Master Balls and stop being so frugal.
There is a sense of discouragement when you successfully conquer a challenging Raid, especially after investing in a Raid Pass, but then the struggling Pokemon repeatedly evades capture from your Premier Balls and ultimately breaks free. With only one Master Ball left in my possession, it feels impractical to use it.
To address this issue, one potential solution is to allow players to acquire Master Balls by exchanging coins. While some individuals may still choose to purchase large quantities, this approach also provides players with a goal to strive for, rather than solely using coins for Raids.
One solution could be to remove the Premier Ball limit on Legendary Pokemon encountered after Raids. Often, only having ten balls is not sufficient, so allowing Trainers to use their own supply of balls and awarding Premier Balls as a bonus for completing Raids could be a viable option. In case of running out of Premier Balls, Trainers can still use their own balls afterwards.
A Diet Master Ball could still be highly desirable, as it would be slightly better than an Ultra Ball and could be saved by fans for Raids.
Regardless of what may occur, although we’re thrilled to acquire another Master Ball through the current Pokemon Go Special Research, it probably won’t be utilized in the near future.
