Pokémon players are amazed by this regional variant concept

Pokémon fans are no strangers to imagining their own versions of the many Pokémon from this iconic franchise, but one artist’s interpretation is currently causing a stir.

It’s quite common for the many Pokémon players around the world to invent new monsters, new variants, and other fantastical takes on the hundreds of creatures the world knows and loves.

What’s much rarer is Pokémon players sharing good artwork of new Pokémon, with many not meeting the criteria for actual designs. The Pokémon Company has perfected its design process, so it’s not every day that Pokémon players rally behind fan art.

However, an impressive piece of art is currently making the rounds on Reddit, as it offers a revamp to an often-overlooked Johto Pokémon that could fit perfectly into the old theme of the Legends series.

Old Foretress Fan Design Is A Hit With Other Players

Pokémon fan and artist u/JJonnie shared a post on Reddit, showing off their ingenious design that combines ancient architecture and the fortress part of the Foretress name.

Fellow Pokémon fans appear to be extremely positive about this fan design, with one enthusiastic post responding: “It looks absolutely awesome! It even fits into the Johto theme, looking at the towers in Ecorcia Town! I even like the story behind it.”

Another fan supports the design, adding: “I really love this. Great concept.” While one post said: “I never thought I would watch Foretress and think “oh, so cute 🥰!” but you just did it! Great job man.”

While it’s currently unclear if there’s going to be a Pokémon game in 2024, many fans have their eyes firmly set on Pokémon Day for an announcement. With any luck, a title similar to Pokémon Legends: Arceus could be on the way, and this design would fit in perfectly.
