The Pokemon World Championships 2024 will be returning to the location where it all began, including the very room where the initial battles took place.
The World Championships, as we know it today, were preceded by the Pokemon Tropical Mega Battle. This competition, exclusive to the Trading Card Game, took place in Honolulu, Hawaii. The current global tournaments, which include both TCG and video game competitions, were not established until 2009.
According to LeonhartYT’s Twitter/X account, it has been revealed that the Pokemon World Championships 2024 will be held in Hawaii, at the same venue as the Tropical Mega Battle. It has been discovered that the event will take place in the same convention room that was used 25 years ago, creating a full circle moment.

Despite receiving comments from both The Pokemon Company’s official Twitter/X page, stating “Truly a full circle moment!”and a user who was distracted by the image, questioning “I wonder who has that poster?”in reference to the impressive Exeggutor display in the background, the moment was still cherished by all.
Despite the doubts and accusations that the PokeMania boom was just a passing trend, those who remember its beginnings will also remember how it grew to become the biggest media franchise of all time, despite facing some low years.
The champions of the Tropical Mega Battle were unaware that their participation in the card game tournament would play a pivotal role in the establishment of one of the largest competitive gaming events in the world. As the Pokemon World Championships returns twenty years later, the story has come full circle.
If the memories hold enough value, then they have the option to sell some of the rare and highly sought-after cards given out at Tropical Mega Battle. This proves that being a fan can have its rewards.
