In a recent episode of her podcast, Sweet n Sour, Pokimane shared an intriguing and somewhat troubling experience regarding being “catfished”by an artist who previously created her Twitch emotes. The podcast, which she co-hosts with LilyPichu, debuted in September 2024 and has since revealed numerous personal anecdotes that resonate with her audience.

Among the captivating stories discussed are the challenges of having her phone number leaked and the emotional turmoil that occurred at TwitchCon, but the most unexpected revelation came during the February 8 episode.

Pokimane’s “Catfish”Encounter with an Emote Artist

In her detailed recounting, Pokimane shared, “I made a friend online a few years ago; let’s call her Amy Rose. We first connected through Twitter, and she had a reasonable following which made me less wary of the possibility of her being a catfish. She frequently posted images and showcased her artistic talent, ” she explained.

As their online friendship evolved, Pokimane commissioned the artist for her Twitch emotes—a decision that fostered deeper conversations about their unique family backgrounds, which she found quite relatable.“She would share interesting stories about samurais and more, but I never questioned her credibility, ” Pokimane remarked.“She was undeniably attractive yet rarely posted pictures of herself online. It’s hard to believe someone could be that stunning and not have a single public photo.”

As time progressed, Pokimane’s suspicions began to grow due to the lack of personal images from Amy Rose. Taking matters into her own hands, she utilized Google to reverse search the pictures but found no relevant results.“Eventually, it got too suspicious. I knew something was off with this Amy Rose, ” Pokimane recounted.“I reached out to my moderators for help, and within just 24 hours, they identified the Instagram account of the individual from whom Amy was stealing pictures.”

Determined to address the issue, Pokimane confronted the artist in what she considered the most respectful manner possible. However, Amy Rose chose to completely delete her account, rather than respond.“It made me so sad, ” Pokimane shared candidly, reflecting on the betrayal.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the complexities surrounding online relationships and the potential perils of deception in the digital world.
