Possible Release Window for Legends Z-A Based on Pokemon TCG Schedule

Since the initial announcement of Pokemon Legends: Z-A, fans have been eagerly anticipating more information about the upcoming game. Despite being fueled by only a cinematic trailer and a name, their excitement and speculation have endured the long wait. Fortunately, it seems that more details about the next installment in the series may be revealed soon.

Currently, Game Freak has only released the first reveal trailer for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, along with a tentative release date of “2025.”The company has also stated that the game will be released “Simultaneously Worldwide”next year, although it is unclear if this refers to a global release or specifically for the Switch and Switch 2 platforms.

While some individuals have been patiently awaiting updates, others have proactively taken on the task of investigating for answers within the community, and it seems that some of them may have made progress.

According to the Pokemon TCG site Pokebeach, this theory is based on their extensive research into the card game’s release schedule for the upcoming year. Currently, there is evidence supporting the release of sets up until Summer 2025. In usual circumstances, a new Pokemon game is accompanied by a corresponding card set.

Based on Pokebeach’s speculation, the absence of any breaks in the release schedule for the highly anticipated Pokemon Legends Z-A card set until at least Summer 2025, and possibly even Fall 2025, could indicate that the game itself will also be released during this time period.

The website also suggested that specific hints imply the possibility of the Owner’s Pokemon feature making a comeback in the beginning of next year, in order to keep fans satisfied during the anticipation for upcoming games and new Pokemon.

According to Pokebeach, the current lineup may suggest that the TCG is deliberately delaying new releases until 2025. This could explain the revival of a popular mechanic, as there may not be enough new video game content available for the TCG to utilize.

Fans have expressed their satisfaction with this theory in the comments, as they have previously complained that titles like Pokemon Scarlet & Violet felt rushed. One comment even states, “That’s great news! The longer it takes for ZA to be released in 2025, the more likely it will meet the expectations of being an annual Pokemon game.”

Another optimistic comment mentions the possibility of ZA being released later in the year, allowing more time for polishing. This also increases the chances of getting new sets with the Owner’s mechanic and potential Lorelei content as well.

The validity of this theory, similar to a Squirtle, is yet to be proven. However, we can anticipate that events such as the Pokemon 2024 World Championships will provide an avenue for TCP and Game Freak to inform loyal fans of the franchise of any updates.
