Anticipation continues to build for the upcoming release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, set to launch in just a few weeks. True to its pattern, Xbox users have the advantage as the game is now available for pre-loading, leaving other platforms to catch up.

Pre-load Availability for Xbox Users

Players on both Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S can begin pre-loading Assassin’s Creed Shadows directly onto their consoles. The download is substantial, totaling approximately 107 GB, ensuring that players have ample time to prepare for its official launch later this month. Interestingly, this file size aligns closely with what has been reported for the PC version, suggesting a similar size may be true for PlayStation 5 users as well.

Historically, Xbox has consistently provided early pre-load access for upcoming titles, a trend that continues with Assassin’s Creed Shadows. For those using PlayStation 5, the pre-load option is set to become available on March 17, 2025, with PC players expected to follow suit not long after. This approach ensures that all players will be able to dive into the game simultaneously, regardless of platform.

Release Date and Availability

Assassin’s Creed Shadows will officially launch across multiple platforms, including PC (via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Ubisoft Connect) as well as on Xbox Series S/X and PlayStation 5 on March 20, 2025.

The game is currently available for pre-order on all platforms and will be included in the Ubisoft+ Premium subscription for PC users. Subscribers will gain access to the Digital Deluxe Edition upon launch, which they can continue to enjoy for as long as their subscription remains active. Additionally, a special Collector’s Edition is available for those looking for a unique gaming experience.

Delays have plagued the game’s launch schedule in recent months, and fans remain hopeful for a smooth release this time. PC gamers will be particularly pleased to note that Ubisoft has begun releasing its titles on Steam right from launch with Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This represents a significant return to form for Ubisoft, as the company has also been retroactively adding achievements to previous titles on Steam, such as Far Cry 4.

There is eager anticipation for Ubisoft to announce pre-load details for other platforms, which would allow a broader range of players to be prepared for the game’s debut.
