Developers of Battlefield 6 have published a detailed blog addressing their observations and the adjustments they plan to implement based on beta feedback, with a particular focus on player movement.
During the beta phase, fast-paced players—often compared to Call of Duty enthusiasts—exhibited gaming styles that were not well-received by longtime Battlefield fans. While performing rapid maneuvers such as bunny hopping can showcase skill, these tactics diverge from the core essence of the Battlefield experience.
In response, the developers have announced a series of targeted nerfs aimed at those exploiting slide momentum and repeated jumping, striking a balance between providing fluid gameplay and maintaining the series’ distinct tactical feel.
Significant Revisions to Movement Mechanics in BF6
For the majority of players, these impending changes may not lead to noticeable differences in gameplay. If your style primarily involves sprinting, occasional sliding, and evading grenades with jumps, the impact may be minimal.
However, these adjustments are specifically designed for players who have harnessed and manipulated movement mechanics for extreme speed across the maps.

Players who mastered the movement mechanics were swiftly traversing the maps with minimal accuracy penalties, making themselves difficult targets. This overwieldy ability contrasts sharply with the developers’ intention for players to engage in combat with a more measured approach.
“Movement mechanics have been adjusted to create a more balanced and traditional Battlefield experience. Momentum, especially the horizontal speed carried from a slide into a jump, has been reduced. A greater penalty is now applied for consecutive jumps, resulting in decreased jump height when jumps are spammed. Furthermore, firing while jumping or sliding will be met with increased inaccuracy, ” reads the developer update.
“These changes aim to make sliding and jumping situational rather than advantageous in combat, fostering a gameplay environment that highlights skillful movement without veering into chaotic speed, ” the update continues.
Battlefield 6’s Principal Gameplay Designer has emphasized that these modifications are not overly drastic, targeting specific gameplay instances highlighted in recent clips.
In addition to movement nerfs, the team is also focused on refining other aspects of movement that may have felt awkward or “clunky.”However, it remains to be seen whether they will address the powerful impact of defibrillators, which can take down entire teams in moments.
