“Real-life Team Rocket” slammed for harassing Pokemon Go player on Community Day

The community of Pokemon Go has rallied behind a fan who had a negative encounter with other players during Community Day.

Reflecting on their previous plan to obtain 50 daily free Pokecoins on Reddit by using a few Gyms during the Tynamo-focused event, the adolescent player successfully defeated and took control of one of the seven Gyms in their nearby park. This park was home to seven Gyms, all occupied by the same three individuals.

After winning, the author of the thread recounted, “Three guys approached me, stared at my phone, and instructed me to “stay away from their Gym.”

“Despite my awkward apology and attempts to diffuse the situation with laughter, the hostile group of players continued their behavior. Eventually, I was forced to leave as they glared at me from the bench they had taken over at the Gym.”

Upon being questioned about their actions, the majority of players assured the author that they were not at fault, using responses such as, “You didn’t do anything wrong”and “Just keep playing. It’s just a game. If you want to take a gym, go ahead.”

Some people referred to the group as “bullies”due to their behavior resembling that of “Real-life Team Rocket.”They suggested that the affected player should report them for violating Niantic’s Player Guidelines, which prohibit harassment and threatening behavior.

In the thread, several users recounted similar experiences and came to the same conclusion that any incidents of hostility can be reported and that Niantic does take action against users who engage in behavior similar to what was described in the post.

Despite the passing of July’s Community Day, there are still numerous incentives to continue playing Pokemon Go during the downtime following Go Fest Global.

The Paldean native Tandemaus was introduced in Timed Research, and Mega Lucario is set to make its in-game debut on July 27.
