The Model L has recently emerged as one of the standout assault rifles in Warzone following a substantial buff in Season 2, yet it remains relatively under-discussed among players.

Throughout most of Season 1, the XM4 reigned supreme as the best long-range weapon in Warzone. However, the Season 2 update saw Raven Software implement significant nerfs to this rifle, targeting its damage range, 100-round magazine, and the Buff Stock attachment. Despite these changes, the XM4 continued to perform well, thanks largely to the Buff Stock attachment’s ability to mitigate recoil, allowing players to eliminate enemies across varied distances.

Frustrated with the XM4’s persistent dominance, Raven Software enacted further modifications aimed at dethroning it from its lofty position. In the wake of these adjustments, new contenders like the Cypher 091 and Goblin Mk2 surfaced, but the Model L has proven itself to have a unique edge over these competitors.

Embracing the Model L: A Smart Choice for Warzone Players

In the latest Season 2 update, enhancements to the Model L included an increase in its maximum and medium damage ranges by approximately seven meters, along with an eight-meter boost to its minimum damage range. These tweaks have led to a noticeable improvement in the Model L’s time-to-kill performance during long-range engagements.

Popular Warzone streamer Teep recently highlighted the Model L’s status, stating, “Model L got another buff recently, making it a meta option.” He also encourages players to utilize the Warrior’s Blood weapon blueprint, which is notable for its superior iron sights and unlockable upon reaching Prestige 2, level 50. Furthermore, he advocates for the Reinforced Barrel attachment, which boosts range and enhances bullet velocity beyond 1300 meters per second.

Teep’s recommended loadout for maximizing the Model L’s effectiveness includes:

  • Muzzle: Compensator
  • Barrel: Reinforced Barrel
  • Underbarrel: Vertical Foregrip
  • Magazine: Extended Mag II
  • Rear Grip: Quickdraw Grip
  • Stock: Infiltrator Stock
  • Laser: Target Laser
  • Fire Mods: 5.56 NATO Overpressured

This configuration is advantageous as it allows players to utilize their attachment slots more effectively—leaving out an optic in favor of practical options like a Laser or a Fire Mod.

When analyzing the time-to-kill statistics from TrueGameData, the Model L performs slightly behind the Goblin Mk2, AK-74, and Cypher 091. Nevertheless, it offers superior accuracy compared to these competitors and does not have the semi-automatic limitation that affects the Goblin Mk2.

According to WZRanked, as of now, the Model L ranks as the 21st most popular weapon in Warzone. However, with its recent buff, we can anticipate an increase in its usage among players looking to secure an edge in battle.
